Got told my drywall tape job looked like a toddler did it
Old-school drywaller said I was pressing too hard and not letting the mud set up first, so now I wait 15 minutes after applying before I smooth it. Anybody else get feedback that totally flipped their technique around?

Ouch, that's rough, but that 15 minute wait trick is gold. I had a similar moment when a painter told me to stop chasing wet mud and just let it set, completely changed how my finish looked. Glad you got a tip that actually worked instead of just getting roasted.

Similar thing with taping corners. Letting mud sit first fixed everything for me too.
