I ran a test on two different email sign-up forms for my site, and the simpler one won by 22%

That "simpler one won" line hits hard. I used to cram every possible field into my forms, thinking more info was better. Seeing a 22% jump from just cutting the clutter is a real wake-up call. It turns out every extra box is just another chance for someone to change their mind and leave. I'm going back to strip mine down to just an email address.

Absolutely, it's a brutal lesson to learn the hard way. My old signup form asked for name, company, phone, and even a project budget. The drop-off was insane. Now it's just email and maybe a first name if I'm feeling fancy. People just want to get in the door without a whole interview.
