Turns out I missed a pinched wire behind the radio stack that was grounding out the whole bus. Took me two hours to trace it with a DMM. Has anyone else run into issues with those old Cessna wire bundles getting brittle near the firewall?

TIL my crane cab before and after a deep clean is wild

Last month I finally cleaned out my cab on a Liebherr LTM 1050 after 6 months of buildup. Before it was just coffee cups, receipts, and mud caked on the floor mats. After I spent 2 hours with a shop vac and some Windex, I swear the controls felt smoother. Anybody else notice how much less annoying the beeping sounds get when your cab isn't a disaster zone?

I used to buy into the whole Clovis-first story hook line and sinker. Thought those distinctive fluted points were the first real evidence of people in North America, full stop. Then I hit the archaeology wing at the natural history museum in Chicago last month. They had this case showing pre-Clovis sites like Monte Verde in Chile and the Gault site in Texas with radiocarbon dates older than 13,000 years. What got me was the actual stone tools sitting there. The Gault stuff had these simple bladelets and scrapers that looked nothing like the fancy Clovis points. No fluting at all. The museum notes explained how the Clovis points were probably just a later specialized hunting tool, not the first tech. I hate admitting I was wrong about something I argued about online for years. Has anyone else here actually handled pre-Clovis material and seen the difference up close?

Opened my fridge to find a half jar of pickles next to a block of frozen cream cheese

So last night I went to grab a snack and saw my roommate had shoved a half-eaten jar of dill pickles right next to a frozen brick of cream cheese. There was also a bag of stale tortilla chips and a single sad carrot in the crisper. I'm trying to figure out what weird dish they were attempting. Any guesses on what kind of appetizer or dip they were going for? Has anyone else found a combo that looks this random in their own fridge?
