My first year on a tower crane, I'd eyeball every load like a cowboy.

Then last month in Denver, I swung a pallet of glass a foot too far and my foreman yelled, 'Bell, use the dang marks on the boom!' Now I actually read the load chart and use the radius indicator every single time. Anyone else have a 'cowboy' habit they had to break?

Okay, "cowboy habit" is a fun way to put it, but man, that's just being unsafe. Eyeballing loads on a tower crane is how people get really hurt. Your foreman was right to yell, that glass could have been way worse. It's good you learned, but that's not a cool habit to have, it's a dangerous one that needed fixing yesterday.

Our crew started doing quick load checks together before each lift, made a huge difference.

Yeah, "cowboy habit" was my dumb way of saying I was an idiot, but @kellyperry's team check idea sounds way smarter than my old guessing game.
