Just compared a $20 blade grinder to a manual burr grinder for my morning brew

The burr grinder gave me a way more even grind and my coffee tasted noticeably smoother, so what's your favorite budget upgrade for better flavor?

Used to just grab whatever pre-ground stuff was on sale. Tried grinding fresh with a cheap hand mill and it was a total game changer. The smell alone makes it worth the extra minute. My old drip machine suddenly made coffee that actually tasted like the bag said it would. Never going back to stale grounds.

Yeah and it changes how you buy beans too. You stop looking at the roast date and start hunting for the roast time. Some local places stamp the hour it came out of the roaster. That first 48 hours after roasting, the smell is insane. It's like the difference between fresh bread and the stuff from the supermarket shelf. Your cheap grinder just unlocked a whole new layer.

Read that fresh beans keep releasing gas for days after roasting. Makes sense why bags have those little vents now. That first grind after a fresh roast must smell amazing.
