The time my new guy tried to use a 3/8 inch end mill to face a 12 inch steel plate
He loaded the program, hit cycle start, and the sound was like a cat in a blender for about two seconds before I hit the e-stop. I had to explain that a face mill is for facing, not a tiny end mill you'd use for a slot, and that the feed rate he had set would have snapped it even if the cut width was right. How do you all handle teaching the basic 'right tool for the job' rule without sounding like a broken record?

My old shop teacher drilled that into us after a similar crash.

a cat in a blender" is a wild way to describe it, I mean I actually winced reading that. How did he even think that was gonna work.
