Vent: My home energy audit turned into a two month project

I thought it would be a weekend thing, but finding and sealing all the air leaks in my old Chicago bungalow took way longer. The infrared camera showed drafts I never would have guessed, like around the old fireplace. Anyone else have a simple climate fix that snowballed?

Two months? I would have given up after the first weekend. An infrared camera showing drafts around a fireplace sounds like a nightmare to fix in an old house.

Oh, I'm too stubborn to quit. I spent a whole Saturday just trying to stuff rock wool into a gap that kept eating it, like some kind of insulation monster. My back still hasn't forgiven me.

But what if the gap actually needs that much insulation? Maybe it's not a monster, just a hungry wall.
