Switching my apartment to a heat pump took over a year from first call to install

I started looking into it last spring, thinking it would be a summer project. The first delay was getting my landlord on board, which took two months of emails. Then, finding a contractor with availability was another three-month wait. The actual permit approval from the city took six weeks longer than they said. From my first phone call to the day it was running, it was 14 months total. Has anyone else dealt with these crazy long timelines for green home upgrades?

Forget the install time, wait until you see the wait for parts if something breaks. My neighbor's unit had a bad valve and it took the company four months to get the specific part from overseas. The whole system was just sitting there useless. These timelines make you wonder if the supply chain is ready for everyone to switch over at once.

The real miracle is that the landlord even replied.
