Bought a cheap coleman sleeping bag and changed my mind after a rainy night
Ngl I was pretty skeptical about spending under $30 on a sleeping bag, thought it would be trash. But last weekend it poured rain at Shenandoah and my bag stayed bone dry inside while my buddy's fancy down bag got soaked. Anyone else have a cheap piece of gear that surprised them?

That line about your buddy's fancy down bag getting soaked hit home for me. I've seen so many people drop big money on gear only to watch it fail in real weather while the cheap stuff holds up just fine. Its funny how sometimes the simple synthetic fill bags just work better in wet conditions, no matter how much you spend. I had a similar thing with a no-name tarp I got for like 15 bucks that ended up lasting me three seasons before it finally tore. Glad your gamble paid off, nothing worse than a wet night in the backcountry.
