Tried a new creosote remover spray against my old paste method on a tough job in Springfield

You ever try the one in the orange can? I forget the name. My buddy swears by it but I grabbed a can once and it was like spraying water, ran right off. Then I had this old job where nothing would stick, tried three different brands and finally just used a torch to dry it out first. Worked better than any spray honestly.

Found a junkyard fan from a 90s Taurus that bolts right onto my Civic radiator

Could you tell me more about how you trimmed the shroud to fit? I've seen a lot of people talk about using parts from other cars, but the details are usually missing. Did you have to cut the plastic with a dremel or just a utility knife, and did it line up with your radiator mounting points okay? I'm always curious about the little tricks that make these swaps work without a lot of extra fabrication.

Talked my grandpa out of getting a vintage laser printer from 1993

Does your grandpa also have a basement full of old VCRs he swears he's gonna fix one day? @wrenwilson nailed it with the CRT monitor thing, I swear it's like a compulsion for that generation. My own dad tried to give me his old minivan from 1998 because "it still has 50,000 miles left in it" but it had a check engine light that had been on for three years. They see the thick metal casing and think it means forever, but they don't see the dried out capacitors or the corroded power supply waiting to pop. At least he didn't burn down the garage finding out the hard way.

I used to spend 40 hours a week painting, now I type a sentence and get a finished piece in 5 seconds.

And @scott.mia is right, coding is pretty much the only safe bet left at this point!

Used to chase certifications like crazy, then a senior dev set me straight

dude that's rough, i feel for your buddy. it's such a bummer to put all that time and money into something only to find out the market doesn't even care about it. at least he landed on his feet though, sounds like he made a smart pivot in the end.
