Update: My car battery died right before a big grocery run

I was in the Kroger parking lot in Cincinnati, and my old sedan just clicked when I tried to start it after loading the cart. Instead of paying for a tow and a new battery on the spot, I called a friend for a jump, then spent $110 on a battery at an auto parts store and installed it myself in 20 minutes, saving at least $80 in service fees. Has anyone else had a surprise expense turn into a DIY budget win?

Honestly, that Kroger parking lot battery swap sounds like a weirdly satisfying adulting achievement.

That Kroger parking lot fix is a real win, Spencer_johnson22. What made you decide to tackle it yourself instead of calling for help? I bet the feeling of getting it done was way better than just waiting around.
