Stuck contact paper on my kitchen backsplash with hairspray on a dare

My friend bet me $20 that hairspray wouldn't hold contact paper to tile, so I tried it last Saturday and it's still stuck flat after 8 days with zero peeling. Has anyone else used dumb household stuff like this for a cheap fix that actually worked?

That's honestly impressive. Hairspray is sticky as heck when it dries, I guess it makes sense it would work on something lightweight like contact paper. I used a glue stick once to patch up a corner of peeling wallpaper in a rental and it held for two years until I moved out. Sometimes the dumb ideas are the ones that actually pull through.
