Spent $40 on peel and stick floor tiles for my laundry room and they transformed the whole space.

My 1990s linoleum was so gross with yellow stains and peeling edges, and after three weekends of putting them down crooked before getting it right, the room actually looks like a real room now; has anyone else tried those vinyl click planks from the home store?

Did you have to do a ton of prep work on that old linoleum first? I tried peel and stick in my bathroom and the cheap stuff from the big box store wouldn't stick to the textured floor, wasted like 30 bucks on tiles that peeled up after a week. I feel like the glue quality varies so much between brands and the reviews online are all over the place. Those click planks my buddy put in his kitchen have held up way better than his old tile, but he said the locking edges broke on like three planks during install. What kind of subfloor did you put yours on?

But have you stopped and actually looked at what that old linoleum is made of? A lot of those 90s floors have asbestos in the backing or the adhesive, especially if it's that 9x9 tile pattern underneath. I'm not saying yours does, but before anyone starts ripping up old linoleum or sanding it down for prep, it's worth checking. I know someone who started grinding their old floor to get it flat for vinyl planks and stirred up a whole mess of dust they really didn't want floating around their house. The click planks are great if you've got a clean, flat subfloor, but if you've got old glue or soft spots, those joints will pop apart on you every time.
