I finally argued with a friend about painting walls white vs adding an accent wall
My buddy said white paint is cheaper and makes rooms look bigger, but my cousin just spent $60 on a single accent wall and it completely transformed her living room, so which approach actually gives you more bang for your buck without looking like a rental?

Stick with the accent wall but do it right. A single can of decent paint is like $40-50 and with a brush and roller you're out maybe $60 total for a feature wall that actually gives the room some personality. White is fine for rentals where you need to repaint before moving out, but if you own the place, one bold wall makes the whole room feel intentional instead of just practical.

Agree with @olivere30 on the cost thing. But I've noticed a pattern with accent walls where people treat them like this giant commitment when it's really just paint. You can repaint it again next year for the same $50 if you get bored of it. That's what bugs me about the whole "stick with white to be safe" crowd, they act like choosing a color is some permanent tattoo instead of a budget-friendly experiment. White walls feel like you're living in a waiting room, one bold wall actually shows you thought about the space.
