I always thought painting kitchen cabinets was a huge job, but my neighbor's place changed my mind

She did just the lowers in a dark green over a weekend for about $40 in paint and primer. The uppers stayed white and the whole room looked way more expensive. She said the key was cleaning them with TSP first and using a small foam roller. Has anyone else tried a two-tone cabinet look on a tight budget?

Hold up, that $40 price tag is way off unless she already owned half the stuff. A quart of decent cabinet paint is about $25 alone. Add primer, TSP, a good brush, foam rollers, and a tray liner. You're easily looking at $80 to $100 to do it right. The method she used is solid, but her math is fantasy.

Remember when my buddy tried that and, like price.alice said, spent over a hundred bucks just on supplies?
