Hit my $50 grocery budget this week for the first time in a decade
I finally did it. Scored a whole week of meals for $50.20 at Aldi in Atlanta. Beans, rice, eggs, frozen veggies, and a small pork shoulder for stew. My mom used to do this back in the 90s. Guess I'm finally learning from her. Anyone else surprised how far simple ingredients can stretch if you plan it out?

Aldi really comes through for stuff like that. Pork shoulder is a solid choice, it can stretch into a ton of meals. Rice and beans as a base is just smart, never gets old. Good on you for sticking with it.

Aldi's pork shoulder is hit or miss lately, honestly. That meat can be super fatty and gristly, not the best deal when you factor in the waste. Rice and beans as a base is fine if you're broke, but it gets old real fast if you have any other option. Stocking up on pork shoulder is a gamble with how inconsistent the quality is. I'd rather pay a little more for a better cut somewhere else and not have to worry about it.
