How our town's binding event turned into a thread hunt
Last month, our community center held a binding workshop for beginners. So many people came that we used up all the linen thread by noon. I had to run to three craft stores to get more, but they just had polyester. This made me see how hard it is to find good supplies locally. Has anyone else dealt with a sudden need for materials in their area? What do you do when your local stores don't carry what you need?

Local shops rarely have what you need for niche hobbies! I order materials online well before events to avoid scrambling.

My friend tried local shops for miniatures and left empty-handed.

When my local store had nothing, I hit up online auction sites. Snagged a rare dwarf battalion last month for a decent price. Forge World was out of stock, but I found a seller on eBay with leftover bits. Sometimes hobby forums have swap threads where people trade sprues. It takes more effort than walking into a shop, but you can find almost anything.
