Hot take: Terraforming Mars needs a better turn tracker
I just read on BGG that the standard game of Terraforming Mars averages 62 turns with 4 players. That number shocked me because my group always finishes around 45 turns. We must be skipping something or playing too fast. Anyone else notice a big difference between their play count and that stat?

Keep in mind that BGG poll data is self reported and usually off by a bit. People tend to guess their turn counts instead of actually counting, so 62 is probably high. My group clocks in around 50 turns normally, so you're not that far off from the real average lol.

I saw someone on Reddit mention that groups who draft cards in Terraforming Mars run about 10 turns longer because people take more time choosing and passing. That might explain the gap if your group doesn't draft every game. Could also be that you're just playing more efficiently than the average table.
