My chocolate chip cookies were a total fail because I swapped butter for oil
I was making my usual cookie recipe last night and realized I only had half a stick of butter. I had to choose between running to the store or using vegetable oil as a substitute. I went with the oil to save time. The dough was way too runny and the cookies spread into one giant, greasy mess on the pan. Has anyone else tried this swap and actually made it work?
Wait, is the dough really that much of a problem or did it just get too cold? Maybe you over-chilled it. I've had that happen before and it was a pain, but going back to warm dough seems like a big jump.
