The day I stopped trusting factory wire splices in Citation cabins
Three years ago I was troubleshooting a cabin light flicker on a Citation 560 at KAPA in Denver. Opened up the overhead panel and found a factory splice that had the shield wire twisted around a power conductor. No heat shrink, no tape, just bare copper touching. Spent 6 hours chasing shorts that turned into one 30 second fix. Has anyone else found factory work that was worse than the hangar floor mods?

Wait, the shield wire was just twisted around a power conductor with no insulation at all? That's not just bad work, that's almost asking for a fire or a short to ground. I've seen some pretty sloppy factory stuff over the years but that one takes the cake. In my experience, the factory usually has better QC than the field mods, but I guess every manufacturer has their off days. Makes you wonder what else is hiding behind those panels that nobody has found yet.
