Washer drum locked up on a Fridgedaire Affinity last Tuesday - be careful with those
I got a call about a washer that wouldn't spin, figured it was the lid lock again. Got there and the drum was totally froze, wouldn't budge by hand. Pulled the belt and still nothing, so I knew it was the bearing assembly. Wound up spending 3 hours wrestling that spin basket out cause the bearings had rusted so bad they fused to the shaft. Anyone else run into these newer Affinity models where the bearings give out after like 4 years?

And @karenw90 you're right on the money with that question - I ended up having to use a cutoff wheel on the shaft collar just to get the spin basket free, it was that bad. The rust had basically welded the whole assembly together, took me another hour of tapping and prying to finally break it loose from the tub. These newer Affinity models are a nightmare compared to the older ones where the bearings would at least slide off with some heat and a hammer.

You said the bearings fused to the shaft - did you have to cut anything to get that basket out?
