Heads up about those cheap universal washer pump kits

I lost a full afternoon and $40 on a 'compatible' pump that failed after two cycles. The motor housing cracked because the plastic was way too thin. Has anyone found a decent brand for off-brand machines that actually holds up?

Yeah, I've been burned before like thead44 mentioned. I tried a cheap aftermarket alternator once and it died in three months. Now I check online forums for my specific car model to see which brands actually hold up. Sometimes the mid-priced aftermarket stuff is totally fine if you pick the right one. What car are you trying to fix?
