My local glass scene is buzzing about glow-in-the-dark frit lately.

Glow-in-the-dark anything is having a real moment, like disco balls for the craft table. My local shop can't keep the stuff in stock, which is wild for material that basically turns your work into a permanent nightlight. It's fun for a few projects, but how many glowing paperweights does one person need? The buzz will probably fade once everyone's made their third ashtray that haunts their patio at night. It feels like a fad riding the wave of other neon and retro trends. Give it a year and we'll all be onto the next shiny, or in this case, glow-y, thing.

Showerthought: I learned to break down loan costs, but my friend says rate is all that matters.

So how long do you really think you'll be in that house? I got a slightly higher rate with no points on my place because I knew we'd move for my wife's job in like 5 years. My cousin went for the super low rate but paid a ton in points, and then his job moved him after 3 years. He basically lost money. You gotta run the math on the total cost for your own plan.

I cut my post hole depth in half and no issues

Read an article last week about post depths for different soil types. It said in clay soils, two feet might be okay if you pack it right. But they stressed that frost lines vary by region, so local codes should guide you. For example, in my area, the frost line is 30 inches, so I always go deeper.

I used to think breaking in new boots on the trail was fine, but not anymore

My cousin tried to speed up the process once by soaking his new leather work boots in hot water. He said it would mold them to his feet faster, but they just shrank and became incredibly stiff. He ended up with cramps in his arches that lasted for days. Sometimes the old way of just wearing them for a while is the only method that really works.
