That skip steps mentality hits everywhere. People will ignore the weird click in their car door for months until it just won't open. Same with a dripping faucet that turns into a flooded cabinet. Letting the small stuff slide always makes the eventual fix worse and more expensive. Your dozer story is just the industrial version of a daily life truth.
