I finally noticed how street signs use color for quick reading

I was walking home after a late shift and saw a new bike lane sign. The bold yellow and green made it pop even in low light. What everyday things give you design sparks?

Look at how traffic lights use red on top worldwide, so colorblind folks can still tell position. Exit signs always glow that same specific green so you find them through smoke. Even warning labels use bold triangles and yellow so your brain catches danger before reading. It's crazy how much work goes into stuff we only glance at for half a second.

Absolutely, it's wild how much thought goes into everyday things. I was just reading about how elevator buttons have braille for blind people, and the floor numbers are raised too. It's crazy that even the sound the elevator makes when it stops is designed to be distinct. Like, that ding tells you it's your floor without looking. All these tiny choices add up to make life easier for everyone. Makes you appreciate the hidden work in design, lol.

Think about how sidewalk ramps help not just wheelchairs but also bikes and shopping carts. Notice the bumps on train platform edges that warn blind people they're getting close. Even the shape of a soda can tells you where to open it without looking. All these tiny fixes make things work better for everyone without us realizing. Once you start seeing this stuff, you can't stop noticing it everywhere.
