I thought those magnetic tool strips were just a gimmick for Instagram

Bought a cheap one from Harbor Freight for like $12, figured it would fall off the wall in a week. Stuck it up above my workbench six months ago and it's held every wrench and socket I've thrown at it. Even my heavy 1/2-inch drive impact sockets haven't budged. I was totally wrong, it's the fastest way to grab a tool without digging in a drawer. What's something you guys were sure would be junk that actually worked out?

Man, I get that. I had a cheap socket set from one of those discount auto parts stores. The plastic case felt like a toy and I was sure the ratchet would strip out immediately. Used it to change the control arms on my truck, fully expecting to have to borrow real tools halfway through. That was three years ago and I still grab it first. Sometimes the junk just works.

Felt the same about those cheap plastic parts organizers but mine are still going strong after years of abuse.
