My smart speaker tried to order a pizza after I asked about the weather

I was testing a new Echo Dot 5 against my old Google Nest Mini in my kitchen in Denver. I clearly asked both 'What's the forecast for tomorrow?' The Nest Mini gave the weather, but the Echo Dot said 'Ordering a large pepperoni pizza from your default location.' I had to scramble to cancel it through the app. Has anyone else had a gadget completely misinterpret a simple command like that?

That's wild, but it tracks with my Echo. The wake word detection can get tripped up by background noise. Try going into the Alexa app and turning on the "Follow-Up Mode" setting. It makes the device wait a bit longer before acting, so you have a second to stop a wrong command.
