I finally snapped at a smart speaker in my own kitchen

Was trying to set a timer for pasta in Seattle last week, and the thing kept mishearing 'six minutes' as 'sex minutes'. After the third failed attempt, I just yelled 'never mind' and used my phone instead. Anyone else have a gadget that just refuses to cooperate with the most basic task?

Honestly, have you tried just saying the numbers? Like "set a timer for six zero seconds" first to get its attention? Tbh mine only listens after I do that weird robot voice.

Wait, you have to do the robot voice too? I saw someone say it's because the mic picks up background noise first.

Wait, you have to talk like a robot for it to hear you, @the_anthony? That's just a broken product at that point. It should work when you speak normally like a person.
