Just realized the local hardware store stopped carrying oil-based polyurethane.

Did they say why they stopped? That stuff is still the best for high-traffic floors, imo. Makes me wonder if it's just your store or a wider thing.

@angela899, I used to agree with you that nothing beat that product for busy floors. But after seeing a different sealant used in my building, I understand why they might stop. The old type cracks faster when it gets wet often, according to our caretaker. That probably led the company to update their advice across all stores. My own experience now shows the newer options can last longer with less fuss.
