Can we talk about heat stress in the pouring area?

I got really dizzy and my skin felt clammy during a long bronze pour. The safety guy said it was the start of heat exhaustion from not drinking enough. Now I keep a water bottle on my station and take five minutes in the break room after each furnace cycle. Trust me, it creeps up on you fast.

I mean, same thing happened to me last summer. I started setting a timer to drink water every twenty minutes, and it totally stopped the dizzy spells. You really gotta force yourself to step away even when you're busy.

My doctor told me those dizzy spells can actually be from eye strain, not just dehydration. I tried the water timer thing for a week and it didn't change anything for me. What finally worked was getting blue light glasses and making myself look at something far away every hour. I guess it just depends on what's causing the problem for each person.
