I finally picked between two forgotten 90s alt-rock albums for my next deep dive
I was stuck between 'The Horse' by The Walkabouts (1995) and 'The Inevitable' by The Silos (1994). I went with The Walkabouts because I found a sealed vinyl copy in a Seattle shop for $15. The album is this moody, country-tinged thing that got zero radio play, and I think it's a hidden gem, but my friend says it's just boring. Which of these two forgotten records do you think is more worth revisiting?

Did you get to the song "The Light Will Stay On" yet? That track alone makes The Walkabouts pick the right one. I found that album years ago in a used CD bin and it just stuck with me, that gloomy, dusty sound. Your friend calling it boring probably just means they wanted a faster beat, but the slow burn is the whole point. The Silos are good, but for a deep dive, you picked the more interesting mood.

Yeah, that whole album feels like finding a faded photo in an attic. Do you think that dusty sound comes from the production or just how they write the songs?

Nah, it's more the production style. That lo-fi tape sound is intentional.
