Pro tip: I finally tried using floral foam for a big hotel job in Austin and it saved me 2 hours.
I always thought it was a cheap shortcut, but the designer insisted and the arrangements held up perfectly for the whole 3-day event. Anyone have a favorite brand that's a bit more eco-friendly?

Oh wow, I totally get the hesitation. I read this article a while back about how the regular stuff never breaks down and it's pretty bad for the environment. I mean, it definitely works, but that stuck with me. I've seen some brands online that say they're biodegradable, but I haven't tried them myself. Maybe the designer knows a specific one that's less terrible?

Honestly the whole foam debate makes me wonder about the WATER waste. Like, how much extra water do you go through trying to keep arrangements alive without it? I had to constantly top up heavy vases at a weekend wedding and it was a huge pain. Sometimes the "green" choice isn't just about the product, it's about all the other stuff you use up.

That article Ray mentioned said it takes over 500 years for standard floral foam to break down. When you say the arrangements held up for the whole event, did the designer mention if the specific foam they used was a different, greener formula, or was it just the regular kind that worked so well?
