My 'realistic' fake blood recipe from a horror forum turned my actor's skin green for a whole scene
I mixed corn syrup with green food coloring instead of red by accident, and we only noticed under the studio lights. Anyone know a foolproof blood recipe that won't cause a Smurf situation?

Oh man, did the green show up on camera? I once used a chocolate syrup based blood for a night shoot and it just looked like mud smears in every single shot. We had to reshoot the whole fight scene at like 4 AM. My go-to now is just corn syrup, red food dye, and a tiny bit of cocoa powder to darken it. Test it under the lights you're actually using.
