Hot take: I thought 3D printed props were just for cosplay, not real shoots.
I needed a broken radio for a scene and printed one on my Ender 3, then hit it with some spray paint and dirt. It looked so real on camera that the director asked where we rented it. Anyone have tips for making printed plastic feel heavier or more solid on set?

How do you get that weight without it costing a ton? I've filled hollow prints with sand before, but it can get messy. Maybe try mixing some metal washers into the base before you seal it up?

Yeah that's the thing, everyone wants the heavy feel without the heavy price. It's like we're all trying to fake quality on a budget these days.

Heard someone mention using lead shot mixed with epoxy for the base, keeps it dense without rattling around. @amymartinez your sand idea works too, just make sure it's bone dry first or you'll get corrosion down the line.
