inOverheard a new guy at the site in Tacoma call the crane 'just a big lever'
Remember my kid calling a forklift a "metal cow" because it lifts things with its forks. I had to stop and realize he was just seeing the shape and the job it did. It's easy to get lost in the technical names and forget what these machines are actually for at their core. Sometimes the simple names are the most honest ones.

inPSA: I ran a full project report in Buildertrend and it showed a negative budget for concrete
Ugh, this is why my personal budget spreadsheet is a total mess.

inSerious question, has anyone else had to run wire through a finished wall with zero attic access?
My buddy Jake in his 1920s bungalow had to get a wire from the living room to the basement. He cut a small hole behind the couch and used a coat hanger as a fish tape, feeding it down the wall cavity. He said he could hear it rattling past the old plaster keys for like ten minutes. Finally poked a hole in the basement ceiling right where the hanger came out. Total dumb luck but he got it done.

inPro tip: Switched from buying pre-shredded cheese to a block 6 months ago, my weekly grocery bill dropped by almost $12.
Yeah, because they coat that pre-shredded stuff in potato starch or cellulose to keep it from clumping. You're paying cheese prices for wood pulp. A block and a decent grater is the only way to go, the melt is completely different too. It takes maybe an extra minute of effort for way better quality and actual savings. The math on that stuff never adds up unless you're literally in a rush every single time.

inSerious question, went to that new 'artisan' bakery on 5th and saw them using pre-made frozen croissant dough.
And it's not just food. The word has jumped to tech and software now. I saw an "artisan" project management app last week. When a word loses all meaning in one area, companies just move it somewhere else to feel special again. It's a cycle that makes real skill harder to spot.
