Rant: My post hole digger snapped on a job in Tacoma last Thursday

I was setting a 4x4 for a cedar fence and hit a rock about two feet down. The whole handle just sheared right off, not at a weld but in the middle of the steel tube. I had to run to the rental place and get a new one, which set me back half a day and $75. Anyone have a brand that can actually take a hit without breaking?

Ugh, that's the worst feeling... just a clean snap in the middle of the tube. Sounds like a total junk tool. I've had that happen with the cheaper big-box store brands before, where the metal just seems too thin. Makes a tough job ten times harder when you have to stop everything. Really feels like they don't make stuff to last anymore, you know? That half-day delay is just brutal on a job schedule.

Tell wade558 that's what cheap steel gets you. My crew only uses the old school forged ones now, they're tanks.
