My neighbor's parking advice actually got me out of a ticket
Old Mr. Henderson from two doors down told me to always angle my tires toward the curb on our street in St. Paul. I figured he was just being fussy about his lawn. Last Tuesday the parking enforcement came through during that snow emergency and I was the only one on the block without a $45 ticket. Has anyone else gotten surprisingly good advice from a random neighbor like that?

Man, is old man Henderson on some kind of secret saint mission or what? I had a neighbor in Milwaukee, Mrs. Kowalski, who used to yell at me about keeping my garbage cans exactly two feet from the curb on collection day. I thought she was just being weird about her petunias. Then one windy Tuesday my cans got knocked over and the truck driver skipped my whole block because of the mess. I spent the whole weekend smelling trash while her cans stayed perfect. Now I measure it every single time with my boot heel. Its crazy how these little tips from people who've been around forever can save you so much hassle.

Honestly, that old guy Henderson sounds exactly like my neighbor Sal. Told me for years to back into my driveway during winter so the plow wouldn't bury me in. I always rolled my eyes until last February when we got that 14 inch dump overnight. Woke up to my car completely clean while everyone else was out there shoveling for an hour. Now I do it every time it snows even a little. Ngl, sometimes the old folks really do know what they're talking about.
