Hot take: I bought a $150 'smart' multimeter and it just sits in my bag
I saw the ads and thought a wireless meter that sends data to my phone would be a game changer for checking voltages in the hoistway. After six months, I've used it maybe twice. The app is clunky and it takes longer to pair than to just read the old analog dial. I'm back to my trusty $40 meter from the supply house. Has anyone found a real use for these on a service route, or are they just fancy toys?

My foreman got one of those Fluke Connect meters last year. Honestly, it only comes out when a manager is visiting to look fancy.

Got a buddy who still uses a yellow Fluke from the 90s he found in a burnt-out van. Says it still works better than anything new his company buys.
