DAE now double-check governor ropes after a near-miss?

I used to skip detailed rope inspections, but seeing one fray unexpectedly has me urging everyone to take that extra minute.

My buddy's rig at Smith Rock last spring had a core shot we all missed. It was just a tiny white spot, but it ran deep. Now I unrope and check every single inch before I even tie in. That visual check feels like the most important part of my day.

That "tiny white spot" is why I now run the rope through my bare hands to feel for trouble.
