Changed my mind about using canned air on a tricky laptop fan

I spent about four hours trying to fix a noisy fan on a Dell XPS 13, convinced a good blast of canned air would clear it. Turns out the bearing was shot and the air just pushed a bunch of dust deeper into the heatsink, making the thermal paste job I had to do next way messier. What's your go-to method for diagnosing a bad fan versus just a dirty one?

Honestly, I saw a video where they said to check for wobble or grinding noise before you even open it up. That usually means the bearing's gone.

Nah, you can still have a bad bearing without any noise.
