Turned out my cheap webcam was actually better than the expensive one I bought later...

I used this $30 Logitech webcam for like 3 years and it worked fine. Then I heard everyone raving about the new 4K models so I dropped $150 on one from a different brand last month. First Zoom call my boss said I looked like a blurry ghost. The autofocus kept hunting and the colors were all washed out. Swapped back to my old one and suddenly I'm crystal clear again. Has anyone else found that spending more on tech actually made things worse?

Was the expensive one actually 4K or just marketing hype

ha oh man the marketing hype is REAL with that one. i actually tested it side by side with my old 1080p monitor and i'm pretty sure the "4K" was just them upscaling the menu text. like yeah the box said 4K but when i played a real 4K source file it looked exactly the same as my regular HD stuff. my wifi router has more pixels than that thing. biggest waste of money i've spent in a while but hey at least it makes a nice paperweight now.
