Boba vs. rolled ice cream: Which one is the bigger dumb tax trap?
Okay, I gotta settle this. I spent like $9 on a tiny cup of rolled ice cream at a place in Austin last Thursday, and it was basically just sweet milk with some crushed oreos. Meanwhile, I dropped $7 on a proper boba from a spot in Houston that had fresh taro and boba pearls that actually had chew. One felt like a ripoff (the ice cream) and the other felt worth every penny. Am I crazy or is rolled ice cream the biggest waste of cash in dessert form right now? Anyone else feel like they got tricked by the novelty?

Can I ask, am I the only sucker who paid $9 for rolled ice cream and then tried to convince myself the cold disappointment was actually worth it? lol. The thing with rolled ice cream is you're paying for a performance, not a dessert. Like, you watch them scrape it and you get hyped, but then it's just sweet nothingness in a cup. Boba at least gives you texture and flavor that lasts more than three bites. I almost feel personally victimized by that Austin ice cream place.
