My landlord tried to fix a leaky pipe with duct tape and a prayer

I had a slow drip under the kitchen sink for two weeks. Landlord came by, wrapped the pipe joint in duct tape, and said 'that should hold till the new year.' Three days later I came home to water all over the floor and a warped cabinet bottom. He charged me $150 for 'water damage' on my security deposit. Has anyone else had a landlord who thinks tape solves plumbing?

My own DIY plumbing skills peaked when I patched a garden hose with a chewed-up piece of gum, so I feel your landlord's optimism but not his follow-through.

oh 100% same energy here, I once tried to "fix" a leaky faucet with electrical tape and sheer hope and it held for like two whole days before spraying everywhere at 3am.
