The day my ladder pump decided to become a fountain
I was on a job near the Sacramento River last week, and the old ladder pump on our dredge just gave up. It started spraying water everywhere, like a weird fountain, for about ten minutes before we could shut it down. We had to patch it with a piece of rubber from a truck tire inner tube to get through the day. Anyone else had a pump fail in a totally ridiculous way?

Everything breaks in the most dramatic way possible" reminds me of my buddy Carl's fridge. Heard a weird hum for days then one morning the freezer door just flew open by itself like it was haunted. All his frozen pizzas and ice cream were scattered across the kitchen floor, melted into a sticky mess. The repair guy said it was just a bad compressor, but that thing had style.
