Overheard a young guy at the yard call a cutterhead a 'big drill'
It made me think about how much hands-on knowledge we used to pass down just by working together. My first boss on the Mississippi would have had me cleaning that thing for a week if I'd said that. What's the most basic thing you had to learn the hard way when you started?

Remember getting chewed out for calling a crescent wrench an adjustable hammer. Some lessons only stick when your pride gets a little dented. You definitely learn the right names for things after that.

Oh, the adjustable hammer is a classic.

Wait, isn't it more common to call a hammer an "adjustable crescent wrench"?
