Am I the only one who prefers old-school pencil sketches before jumping into CAD?
Honestly, I picked up this habit from my mentor. Tbh, some folks say it slows down the process and we should go straight to digital. But ngl, sketching helps me picture the design better. What do you all think? Is the extra step worth it?

You said sketching helps you picture the design better, but I actually find the opposite. Going straight into CAD lets me see the design in 3D right away, which is way clearer for me than a flat sketch. It's faster to play with proportions and fix issues on the spot. That early sketch step would just slow me down and lock me into an idea before I've really tested it. For me, digital from the start is more fluid and helps avoid mistakes later. I guess it just comes down to how each person's brain works.

Tried that once and found myself getting stuck in the software... my brain just works better with a pencil first to sort the messy ideas. Guess we all have our own ways to get things clear.

Sorting messy ideas with a pencil might slow you down compared to software. @jade221's direct CAD approach can make the process more flexible.
