Warning: The week I tried to fix every squeaky door in my house
It started Monday with the front door. By Friday, I had taken apart four interior doors. The problem was I used the wrong grease on the hinges. My wife said the kitchen sounded like a haunted house. I had to clean all the pins with mineral spirits and start over. Anyone know a better lube for old brass hinges?

Actually, I'm kind of impressed you went for it and took everything apart! Most people just live with the squeaks forever. That wrong grease was a speed bump, not a roadblock. You figured out the fix and got it done, which is more than I can say for my closet door that's been singing for a year. Sometimes you gotta dive in headfirst to learn.

Try using a dry lubricant next time, works way better.

Four interior doors is a serious commitment lol. I can't believe you took them all apart before realizing the grease was wrong. That mineral spirits cleanup sounds like a nightmare.
