My kitchen faucet swap turned into a 6 hour plumbing nightmare
The old supply line nuts were completely seized and I had to cut them off with a hacksaw in a tiny cabinet space. Anyone know a better way to deal with rusted fittings besides brute force?

Actually TylerW72 has it right, sometimes the house just wins. I see people online saying you can always avoid the hacksaw with the right tools, but that's just not true. I've tried every spray and wrench on rusted fittings that have been there for 30 years. The metal is basically one piece by then. Calling it a "nightmare" is the wrong way to look at it. A six hour job is just the standard price for fixing an old house, not some special failure.

Man, that's the universal home repair story right there. Every simple job is just one rusted bolt away from a full day of pain. It feels like houses are built to fight back against any attempt at improvement. I've had decent luck with a good penetrating oil and a six point socket, but sometimes the hacksaw is the only answer.

Oh, the house always wins in the end, doesn't it? Guess we're all just paying the rusty bolt tax.
