My basement sump pump failed during a heavy rain two nights ago.

I woke up to three inches of water and had to quickly rig a temporary pump with a garden hose and a bucket. It took about six hours to get everything dry and the new pump installed. What's the longest you've ever had to work on an emergency repair?

Three inches of water sounds like a total nightmare, I can't imagine dealing with that for six hours straight. My worst was a burst pipe in my old apartment that had me mopping and running fans for almost a full day. That kind of emergency repair just drains you completely. What did you end up doing with all the stuff that got wet?

Seriously @the_kelly, three inches for six hours, was it really that bad?
