Built a workbench from a $40 solid core door instead of buying lumber

I needed a sturdy workbench for my garage but lumber prices were crazy around here, so I grabbed a beat-up solid core door from a Habitat ReStore for $40. Painted the top with some garage floor epoxy I had left over and it's flat as a pancake, no warping at all. Has anyone else tried using old doors or other weird stuff for workbench tops?

Great idea, people always overlook solid doors when they work way better than lumber for cheap.

See I kinda disagree with that. Solid doors are heavy and a pain to cut or modify if your opening isn't exactly standard size. Lumber you can trim, plane, or rip down to fit pretty much anything. Plus if you're building something like a workbench or a simple shelf, a solid door is overkill and way more work to cut holes in or attach legs to. I mean they have their place for sure, but they're not always the easier option.
